Le Black
Pearl

Rum & cocktail barReims, France

The same pirate soul, finally lit like a real bar.

A — THE BRIEF

What we were looking at.

Le Black Pearl is a rum and cocktail bar in Reims with a committed pirate theme and, more importantly, a real point of view — a wall of arranged rums, a proper cocktail list, tapas to go with them. It's the kind of place with genuine brand DNA. The problem was never the concept.

The problem was the old site. It ran on a dark, dated themed template that leaned so hard into the pirate motif that it read as murky rather than atmospheric — a site you squinted at instead of one you wanted to sit inside. The menu, which is the actual reason to look the place up, was hard to find and harder to read.

This rebuild deliberately keeps the brand and drops the datedness. Same gold-on-black soul, but composed like a real bar with real lighting: a full carte on the page — cocktails, the 44 arranged rums, tapas — and clear, honest actions to reserve a table or get directions.

B — BEFORE, AND AFTER

The homepage, both ways.

Drag the line. Left is the real site as it stood; right is the rebuilt homepage, freshly captured. Same business — a different first impression.

C — PAGE BY PAGE

Every page we rebuilt.

Not just the homepage. Each panel below is a full page — hover a frame to let it scroll, or open the full capture. This is where a redesign is really judged.

P1Home

Atmosphere, not murk

The homepage keeps the gold-on-black identity the bar already owned, but treats it like set-lighting instead of a filter over everything. It reads as a real, inviting room — and it points straight at the two things a visitor actually wants: the drinks and a way to reserve.

P2Carte

The full carte, on the page

The whole offer — cocktails, tapas and the arranged rums — is laid out directly on the page instead of hidden in a download. Someone deciding where to drink tonight can read the actual list in seconds, which is the single most useful thing a bar's site can do.

P3Rhums

44 rums, given their due

The rum selection is the bar's signature, so it gets its own considered page — the 44 arranged rums presented legibly rather than crammed into the theme. It turns a genuine strength into something a visitor can browse and get excited about before they arrive.

D — THE APPROACH

The decisions behind it.

The brief here was restraint, not reinvention: keep the soul, cut the murk, and let the carte do the selling.

01

Kept the brand DNA on purpose

The pirate, gold-on-black identity wasn't the problem — so it stayed. The rebuild elevates the same character rather than replacing it with something generic.

02

Lit it like a real bar

The dated, murky template gave way to a composed, coherent gold-on-black experience that reads as atmosphere instead of a heavy theme.

03

Put the whole carte on the page

Cocktails, tapas and 44 arranged rums now live directly on-screen — the fastest possible answer to 'is this my kind of place tonight?'

04

Clear reserve / directions actions

The two things a bar visitor actually needs — a table and a route — became obvious, honest actions instead of afterthoughts.

Have a site that
needs this too?

If your place already has a real identity and the website is burying it under a dated theme, this is the rebuild that keeps every bit of the character and simply makes it legible again.
